OP... ALMOST the same boat as you... I was dealing with a shop out of state and luckily enough before I paid $2500 worth of parts which included the Agitator Wheels for my 09 Ultra, they were kind enough to check the stock and found they were on back order till at least Mid June. Kudos to the dealer for telling me, but I canceld my entire order because of it. $2500 worth of stuff and Harley doesn't have stock??? WTF! Now I see many others dealing with this. Had I paid the $2500 and THEN was told I couldn't get the parts till mid June at the earliest I would have gone off on somebody. I checked the HD website and sure ****, they will let you go through the entire order process and pay for the rims and never mention they are on backorder. What a crock!! Sorry you are actually sitting on the parts and can't install them...
Yup. Ordered and paid in advance for chrome wheels, chrome front end, chrome swing arm, chrome pulley, and matching polished rotors and wheel install kits among other things.
Everything is in and ready to go with the exception of the rear wheel. At first the BO was scheduled to be available May 23. It is now backed up to June 22. Checked parts locator, eBay, etc.
Plan on waiting as this is the wheel I want, but definitely ready.
My 09 fat bob has been tied up in the shop for 10 days waiting for rear brake parts??
Brake parts? They said maybe, maybe the end of next week... maybe
I can't under stand how brake parts can be on backorder for a 3 year old bike
You can partially thank Dr. Carl Deming and the Japanese for the whole "Just In Time" inventory management scheme. Obviously, "just in time" means something completely different when you're the customer waiting on parts.

Right information but wrong application of in this case , the " Just in time " system is designed for the manufacturing arena not retail outlets . Parts inventories are taxed hard by most local governments so retailers tend to choke at the thought of having large ones . We the public have been getting trained to wait for years , think about .
