[COLOR="Black"][B][I][INDENT]Why would you turn on your blinker before the intersection?
If you have a car behind you, and you plan on turning right, into the gas station after the intersection. and theres a car at the intersection, what do you do? (not to sound like a dick).
I would do what i always do. Slow down before the intersection, pass the intersection, turn my blinker on when i'm in the intersection, then turn into the gas station. I don't see the problem.
Front blinkers are needed where i live to get a brake tag which has nothing to do with brakes. They check the registration, drivers license, insurance, lights, and horn but not the brakes.
Until you complete the turn the other vehicle does not have the right to pull out. This doesn't save you from the impact but it would place the fault on them.
This happened to me in CA in '87 except I was the one who pulled out in front of the car. I was on my scoot on a frontage road right before an on ramp to the 101. Old man in Ford, blinker on, starts to the right to get in the turn lane for the frontage road, I pull out, he realizes that this is not the on ramp, doesn't turn, and POW!!! I literally jumped up the air to avoid loosing half a leg and landed right in the middle of his hood. CHP officer witnessed the whole thing. Explained what I said above about "completing the turn", told me it was a "bum deal", and then cited me for failure to yield.

With this logic you can turn anything into any problem you might think there is. Hell, I bet you could make your brakes into a safety problem if you think about it long enough....
Front blinkers are there to help, use them. But don't put your life on the line for them. I've had people make EYE contact with me and then proceed to turn in front of me.
People are stupid, protect yourself.

Picture this: You're riding down the road ,approaching an intersection, theres a car on the right waiting for you to pass so he can pull out behind you. you put your right blinker on so you can pull into the gas station right after the intersection. you sure that cars not gonna pull out in front of you.if it never happened to you, you haven't been riding long enough.
My driveway is directly beside a bar with a large 75 foot wide driveway. If I signal to pull into my driveway, someone leaving the bar ALWAYS pulls out in front of me, thinking I am pulling into the bar. I don't signal if there is a car visible to me pulling out anywhere ahead of me. I tap the brake lights a few times, then when I slow down, the bastards STILL pull out in front of me a lot of the time. No win-situation in my opinion.
