Default eletrical problems

My sportster keeps blowing a 15 amp fuse as soon as i hook the battery up. Did i blow a relay or something? How do i figure out which one? I think it happened when i was trying to jump start it, please tell me i didnt do something really bad or expensive to fix. I have recently bought a new battery that is how i discovered the problem, the headlight comes on and the horn works but absolutly no sign of starting. Thanks for any info anyone can give me.

You're gonna have to chase wires. You've either got a short or a bad ground and you are gonna keep blowing fuses til problem is resolved.

Your owners manual should have a section on the fuse block and what fuses are for what. That would be a good starting place.

Disconnect the ground at the battery, make all your connections, check all your fuses. Once everything looks honky dory connect the ground to the battery. Make sure you have the ground going to the frame and positive to the post on the starter.

+1, knowing which circuit is blowing the fuse is usually a really good place to start looking.
