just had a set of h-d mufflers,#80415 slash down, installed on my '05 1200 custom. dealer recommended a dynajet install as well. now my bike sounds like **** & the mileage has gone through the floor. I feel like the catalog should state "quiet as a gold wing" instead of "great sound".
I hate these. what can I do to get some sound & mileage back? I feel taken.
Yes you can change the Baffles, should be a screw to the frame side near the back of each Muffles. Take that out and Baffles should come right out. Check with Big City thunder and they make baffels that fit right in.
Have the same ones on my Heritage.
Maybe not, since those are not Screaming eagle Like I thought. There may be a rivet in that location instead.
I feel like the dealer ripped me cause they didn't know anything about these pipes, but recommended the jet kit anyway. so now it runs way rich,or at least smells like it. they do look good, though. but they still suck.
not sure of the pipes, but if they did a jet kit and the pipes don't really add much more flow you may be running rich and that's why you smell fuel. how is your performance? that could tell some more. you could do some old school adjustments to the stock pipes if they don't have removable baffles, by drilling some holes in them. did you change the aircleaner too? do a complete stage 1? my wife has a 1200c 05 and we had screaming eagle slipons and a stage 1 and it runs wild. changes you make can effect performance, so just be aware of what you ultimately want and can get for the bucks you want to spend. good luck

I guess i'm right back to square 1 with the stage 1. all I wanted was a little more "tone"; the previous owner had drilled a hole in the stockers. now I have these things, they are not SE's,and it looks like I'm gonna have to drill a hole in them! unless the dealer will swap me out for some Rush, which I doubt.
