Tire Plug
Went on a four day 1300 mile trip this Memorial day weekend and at the end of day one I picked up a nail in the back tire of my Ultra. I'm about 20 miles from the motel and felt the bike handling like crap because of low tire pressure so I stop and aired it back up.
Once at the Motel I checked the tire and found the nail. I had a "rope" style repair kit as well as a small air pump but another biker staying at the motel came over and told me that he had a better kit and had used it before. This kit has a rubber mushroom type plug.
I tried his kit and it worked like a charm.
Since I was in rural Oklahoma and traveling through the back roads of Arkasas on Memorial day weekend there wasn't exactly a whole lot of places to get a new tire, especially for an 09 Touring bike.
Well since the plug held up the first day just fine I continued on with the trip. 900 miles later the plug is still holding fine, thats riding two-up with luggage.
I am a believer in the kit, worked for me.

It's the pocket plugger kit.
Just thought I would pass on something that worked and saved my trip.

I saw that website also has a tire pressure monitoring system - wonder how well that works, sure would be a nice feature to have
On a side note:
A few weeks ago I was on a ride with my dad and he got a flat front tire (tube, spoke rims) from riding on a gravel road and I guess a sharp rock punctured the tube but there was no hole in the tire itself. The tire was only put on a few months ago. Well we got it inflated and rode to a local indy shop to get it fixed. This indy shop would not fix it they said he needed a new front tire. They said due to insurance reasons they do not plug or repair any tires. Needless to say he just bought a new tube elsewhere. Did any of you ever hear of this before or was the shop just trying to sell a tire + $70 labor?
