Another sportster? That's the best they can do? Ugh. Seriously. Why don't they drop down to a single V-Rod and make it part of a custom line or something? Have a line of truly unique bikes. A v-rod, a chopper, a hard tail, etc. Something you know ... new?
The owner of our local dealership told me that bagger-riders are the ones who spend money in his store after buying a bike. Still, it makes me wonder what on earth could they possibly add to a bagger that they don't have already? Not that they have to actually improve anything to offer a new package that will appeal to people w/ money. Some "new" feature (reverse? a bigger engine? lifetime warranty?) might be all it takes to have them lined up at the dealers, ready to trade-up.
I would kill for reverse. I know it sounds silly and lazy but there are some times I just want to pull in, and back out. I *almost* went to the trikes to get it.
Harley's aren't the only thing to ride. Sometimes a guy wants alittle more sport in their ride. This bike fills that quota.
On a side note, the last thing HD needs is to build another bagger. Why not have HD focus on making what they have better. That would be the real thing to do.
If they are going to raid Buell's scrap bin at least they could get one of Eric's cool low slung exhausts. The pipes on the XR look cartoonishly big coming out of that tiny little motor. Almost as silly as the V-Rods. Almost.
They need to do something like this to the Dyna to compete with the Victory Cross Country and the new Star Stratoliner Deluxe. Instead of a Dark Ultra how about a Dark Dyna with fairing and bags.
Those pipes are just plain ugly. Of course they would be replaced first thing but they sure look like hell in the showroom.I think people that like Euro bikes are going to buy Euro bikes anyway so why build a Euro HD.
