Default Solo seat question

I'm thinking of going with a solo seat on the fatboy. I have a badlander on it now but I'm thinking about a solo seat and lowering it a bit. Here's the question....what's the best way to add a rear seat without putting the fender paint at risk? Right now it has the vinyl adhesive on it under the rear seat. Obviously, if I go with a solo, that would have to come off.

Really isnt any way that I know of. Even if you use a real soft material the marks from friction are noticable.

Do a search for "Biker's Friend". I seem to remember seeing a passenger seat that attached in a way that should not mar the paint.

Not sure on the fatboy, as far as options go. I run a Lepera solo seat (bare bones) on my standard - it is lined with felt underneath and there are no apparent scracthes after almost 2 years. I also run a Mustang rear fender bib behind it - to make the appearance look better (in my opinion), and it also protects the rear fender's finish. It is also felt lined. They're about $30.00 new. The front attaches with velcro underneath the solo seat (by the ECM bracket), and the rear attaches with a small screw where your stock 2 up seat would attach. There is minor wear along the edges of the bib from me tying down jackets and stuff over the years, but nothing that can be seen unless the bib is off (rarely - just to wash the bike occasionaly). I also went ahead and bought the Lepera passenger pillion pad made for my solo - it bolts underneath the solo seat, and the rear bolts on the same as the bib does. It covers the bib area. And when you put the stock 2 up seat back on, it covers the whole area that the bib did anyway.........

Sounds like that's a good system to go with. Thanks for the info.

I bought the diamond back seat from harley for my fatboy! I just trimed the vinyl adhesive so it fit under my diamondback seat! I still use my stock seat when I ride 2 up, and I don't have any scratches on my fender.
