Turns out the float needle is bad in my carb. from HD dealer the needle is about 19.95, anyone know of a place i can get a cheaper one, or a rebuild kit that includes that needle? or a performance rebuild kit? I've looked at most the major sites, jpcycles, foghollow, ect. just don't want to buy the wrong kit lol i have a 1988 fxrs with keihin screamin eagle carb.

Ended up modifiying the intake a bit to fit a S&S shorty off a 74 electra glide had to drill out the old 5/16" holes to fit the 3/8" bolts for the S&S. runs like a stripe-ed arsed ape now heh.

I'm curious. What was wrong with the old float needle? Was it broke? I've seen needles varnished in the seat, stuck down with goo and all sorts of nastiness that cleaned up and worked fine.

Not to sure whats wrong with the old carb. it was cleaned with brake cleaner, water, and a toothbrush, i think the float needle was stuck to the valve when i first got it, cranked on the throttle and created the ridge about a 1/4" down from the tip, then it started flooding the carb so we adjusted the needle to where it would work fine, then yesterday it just quit working all together(the carb itself) wasnt getting any fuel but there was 2 gallons in the tank and was running 10 minutes before. I'm thinking it was just sitting to long and needs rebuilt, but thats a winter project now that we got it running hehe
