Here in Missery we have 10% ethanol. Since MO and it's neighbors all grow a lot of corn, ethanol plants were all the rage for a bit. Now there are some in government circles that want to raise the content to 15%.
I don't understand how some stations can claim "no ethanol". Do we really have enough gas pipelines to ensure some don't get any ethanol?
Yes! Actually Ethanol is "mixed" and measured at the distribution point! Not in the pipeline.
I have also stated on other threads and forums, when I calibrated flex fuel vehicles ( they had real Ethanol sensors accurately calibrated in development vehicles) you would be suprised how many stations had MORE than the legal amount of Ethanol in their tanks! On several road trips we found as high as 20% in a few stations gas!
As Ethonal is much cheaper, adding more than the law allows, increased profits when gas was then near $4 dollars a gallon.
As I have been retired for several years, I'm not sure if the practice is currently the same. But judging from fuel economy I record on my personal vehicles, I would guess some stations have more than 10% in the tanks!
Newer EFI bikes seam to handle ethanol with out problems. My carbed Sportie doesn't run well on ethanol fuels. Water bonds to ethanol and the longer gas sits the more moisture it absorbs.
I have seen a small decrease in the fuel mileage between blended and non blended but not enough to cause any concern over, I can still get close to 200 miles on one tank

Up until about a year ago, we didn't have that problem, but now you can't find any straight gas.
When it first started it was suppose to save a few cents per gallon, now I think the owner of the service stations are profiting off it the savings.
Non ethanol diluted gas was available in San Antonio until about a month ago then without fanfare or any mention on the local news, I cannot find any station near me without the 10% ethanol sticker on the pump. I believe you get about a 20% drop in efficiency with ethanol so I have noticed a decrease in gas mileage, especially in my Jeep.
Funny thing is the local TV stations were reporting that gas prices were going down but never a word that at the same time gas was being diluted with ethanol.
This chit keeps going on and I won't be able to get any more corn tortillas.
