Type road king radio on eBay and you will find a much cheaper alternative that uses a car stereo and 6 1/2" speakers. If I don't putna fairing on mine I will go with the eBay radio.
Right, I looked at the eBay unit. It is not waterproof. It is just a cheap car stereo unit ($99) in a case with car speakers. There is a rain coat you are supposed to put around it if it is raining and remove it when washing the bike. Also not shock/bump resistant. No Thanks.
Luckily I inquired into that before I bought it or I would be very unhappy right now.
Your welcome for the pics........glad to help out.
Sorry you spent all that money upgraded mine on my RG its loud just adds to the noise at hiway speed. an ipod and ear buds are ten times as nice as any sterio ive heard on a bike
Opinions are free...........everything I have seen on a Harley is not, and I have only been in the Harley game a couple weeks. If you want to be cheap, probably not the bike to own. I have spent well over $2Gs in that time and did not buy all that much. And there were things already done to this when I bought it. But to each their own.
90% of my driving will be around the local area with 10% trips. On the 60 mile poker run I went on this past weekend, had no problem hearing the stereo with 200 plus Harleys around me. All personal choice. Just another option for those who want a nice system.
Gatored: a friendlier term for a word used around my upbringing that I prefer not to use, and picked up in my years in Florida as an alternative. (funny but true).

Don't know what it sounds like, but Harley offers the Road Tech radio.
My boss has something real similar on his RK,it has a CD player in it. I don't understand how they can charge a $1000.00 for it though? You can get a pretty nice stereo installed in a car for that price that would blow that thing out of the water.
As long as you are considerate of everyone around you with the volume level. We have a local yocal cruising our neighborhood with the volume peaked so it is pure clipped amp music. For the life of me cannot grasp what is enjoyable about listening to such a blaring horror show over the sound of such beautiful music pulsing out the exhaust of a Harley.Don't get me wrong have nothing against music on a bike but only for the rider to enjoy.Never have liked the new crazy rock especially when the volume is too much for the amp.
Certainly. In subdivisions my stereos are always down low, rather on the bike or the car. Not piping the bike in those areas either. I believe in common courtesy toward others, and allowing them to enjoy whatever it is that they are doing. In Elkhart, we have a pretty actively enforced noise ordinance because some people just cannot seem to figure this out, or don't care to.

Well said! Everyone with a fairing tells me "it's nice to have tunes man". I like tunes also when they sound good. Can't get enough of those dudes driving their harleys while blaring some dorky song that is all treble.
BTW OP......your bike now looks like my buddies '87 flh. That was the year they put the speedo/tach dash on the bike.
