I rode from colby ks to denver co to cheyenne wy and back this weekend on my 93 fxdl .its was a great time but im thinking maybe i need a different bike for these huge runs was looking at a vrsc bagger on ebay a 03 for 9k .are these good bikes ? would i be better off just finding a good removable windshield for my dyna ? really have no troubles with the dyna just blew around quite a bit and wore alot of bugs home just thought i would tap into the vast knowledge here !

if you are looking at long miles, I would look at the touring family. The batwing gives you the most protection and has tunes. The larger gas tank gives you about 200 miles on a tank.

The VRSC isn't the most comfortable touring bike, but I don't have a windshield on mine and it's definitely not a "bagger". I have the '03 and have had no problems. It's a very different (like night and day) different ride than the air cooled Harleys. The power band starts at about 4000 rpm. As pointed out above, the '03 has a very small gas tank which gets you about 120 miles. Just some things to consider...

Never seen a vrod bagger before. But I think you are on the right track as far as heading to the dealer to test ride. I know the last few dealers I have been to are hard up for people to test ride all the bikes. Be careful though they are having very good interest rate incentives on vrod's right now, and they may press pretty hard to sell you one.
