"Our true mission is to shield the family from any protesters. In the five missions I've done here in California there have been no outward protesters. At one funeral however there was an individual who mixed in with the crowd of mourners who waited until the services were over. After the PGR and most of the mourners had left, this individual came up to the fallen hero's brother and handed him an envelope full of the hateful BS that we were there to protect the family from."
Primo no disrepect but you might want to look at this statement here in Indiana this is secondary on a mission, I've been on several here and have witnessed the UG's do their thing and we just do ours so the family doesn't have to witness the disruption
Patriot Guard Riders will honor any American that dies in the line of duty, including Firemen and Police Officers. But only at the request of the immediate family. Firemen and Police Department usually have their own services but we would participate if asked.
The Patriot Guard Riders primary goal is to honor the US Military Service Personnel.
I am a Patriot Guard member from Nevada. I have been on four missions so far, one of them was an escort mission from Las Vegas to Lake Havasu City, AZ. A KIA soldier was flown into Las Vegas and PGR riders from Nevada escorted the hearse to AZ where PGR riders from AZ took over. It was an honor to participate. Bringing a KIA soldier home to his family is a very somber event that I hope is not necessary again. Someone who gave all should be treated with respect by all Americans and that is what the PGR is all about.
