Default screaming eagle "high compression" plugs.

I just got a new set of plugs for my 05 1200r from the dealer. I asked for screaming eagle plugs and the salesman asked if I wanted the high compression ones. I said sure, whats the difference. I installed em, bike runs fine and sounds fine. I pulled one after 20 miles to check the condition becuase the box said for race applications that run a richer mix to see what they looked like. They looked like the bike is running a bit lean. Is this normal for these plugs? The bike was fine with the regular plugs. Should I just switch back or fiddle with my mixture screw?

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the high compression plug is running hotter than a standard style plug due to it's different insulator design. I have been told that with the high compression plugs you need to run 1 to 2 steps colder plug compared to a standard plug.

+1 on the thought about those plugs being one or two steps colder. Pull them again in a couple hundred miles. Typically a colder plug doesn't maintain the heat to "burn" off deposits, probably didn't say that right.

SCREAMIN EAGLE, TASTES LIKE CHICKEN!

$5 for a gd spark plug for a stock 1200.

Champion RA8HC, identical to the HD OEM plug, for $1.25. Work great and last a long time.

I have the SE 10mm plug wires since they look cooler and were only $20.00, but I always use the stock HD plugs. I use OEM plug in everything unless the engine is built like crazy. You should be fine with thoes plugs.
