I heard the same thing about NJ no longer any motor vehicle inspections. I wonder how many other states will follow suit.

Born and Raised in 'Joisey', been riding for 27 years out on these roads. Rarely have I ever had any of the bikes inspected or even had a valid sticker on them. I've never been hasseled ot ticketed for an inspection sticker ...

I do all of by own wrenching and am responsible if my brakes fail, the wheelbearings implode, the carb catches fire, etc.. I dont need to bring it to a DVM site to have some clueless state employee see if my brake light and turnsignals work...

Glad they are saving cash and not bothering with this low level stuff anymore.

My reg fee this year was $63.00. DOUBLE of last year. Jersey isn't doing us any favors. I always use an indy shop for an inspection. Not surprised they are **** canning the inspections. But the presence of mobile units will increase as will the fines. Its not bad enough we got the mosquito as the state bird, now this.

I figured I would look up how much violations are going to cost me now that LEO can pull me over whenever they want. I have no front fender and no turn signals on the Softail (DOT half helmet is on it's way from Jafrum). I couldn't find anything listing fines in dollar amounts for those violations on the DMV, state police or nj government websites. When you search "motor vehicle fines" it just lists everything associated with DUI's. I've also e-mailed them to ask if there is information on it. Haven't heard back from any of them yet.

My fender mounts were shaved off before the lower legs were powdercoated black. So I'll have to replace the lower legs first, otherwise I would just bolt the stupid fender back on. I would hate to get a couple hundred dollar fine for not having my $50 fender on the bike.

the talk i hear is that cars will still need to go for an emissions check, but nothing else.

i think i have taken one bike for inspection since i have been riding, and that was back in the 80's, i have never had my chops busted for not having the proper sticker on the bike either.

i did read where that letter said somthing about removing the stickers from the plate, but i have no plans of doing that either.

I'm not removing any stickers until they expire. I know I was legally obligated to have my bike inspected in July 2010 and the stickers on my tags prove I had it done.

Never could figure out how ending vehicle inspections is a good thing, especially when I saw the lady at the inspection station pass inspection for emissions, even though she had a huge crack across her windshield.
