We live in a small town so we pick when and where we ride,, makes a big difference..
Some times we have to go into the big city and I go but its not as fun riding,
Seems the bigger the town the more crazy the drivers are. More so in the 5:00 traffic.

Agressive may not be the word, I agree with assertive, rather than reactive, own your peice of pavement, move through traffic, not in it. I tend to travel the less used roads and secondary Rtes., whenever possible. If you're nervous to an extreme and can't seem to channel that to awareness, then a break may be just the thing. Just my two cents.
I have been riding for 32 years with a 13 year lull in the middle of not riding for the same reason. Four years ago though I got the bug again and have been riding since then. I try to avoid any big roads and go on two lane back roads where possible-otherwise stay alert, figure all are out to get you.
