Decided To Get Her Running
A while ago, I made my first few posts in these forums. It was about inheriting a bike, and what to do with it.
First of all, I want to thank all of the replying forum members for the kind words, encouragement and general input.

It turned out to be a 1987 FXSTC. It came in a Uhaul trailor, escorted by a few ol'timers who shared some really cool stories, pictures and more than a few beers.
The bike was pretty beat up. Uncle Bruce was a real hard core road demon. Turns out that he put alot into that bike. Wild cams, worked heads, bored, blew the motor showing off at rallies, some new S & S flywheels, pinion bearings etc. He even pulled the soft-tail pistons and installed some kind of torsion bar suspension. Yeah she is pretty banged up.
Anyway, the bike sat in my barn for this winter, while I came to terms with what I was going to do with it. I decided to get it running and use it.
Wow, I had to retool for this. I had to buy a bunch of 'gulp' metric crap, and some torks head stuff. I really felt like Rumplestiltskin.
The first thing that I had to do was pull the inner primary case, clean it up, weld up a NASTY forked crack, and get it all back together right.
The second thing I had to do was switch out the buck horns for some drag bars. At 6'8" those bucks were just not doing it for me.
Well, I have it road legal, and have been running it hard. I plan to use it to commute to work. I live out in Suffolk LI, but am currently working at a power plant construction job in Astoria Queens.
I still have a lot of little issues to work out with it, but I will get to them.
I have to go make a post in the technical forums, about a tach problem.
So thanks again to all for the support.

Pic #2 is one of the last pics we have of Bruce. He insisted on trying to take off
his O2 for the pic. Took him 1/2 hour to catch his breath after.
Pic #3 is Bruce on his previous ride, while still out in Oklahoma. Had to be taken late 70's to early 80's.
Pic #4 is the bike back in my barn. Ironically, it is in the exact spot that I spent 4 years restoring my '42 wla.
Pic #5 Though it is gone, that was my '42. Now I will work on the fxstc.
