Angry How to remove baked on mud?

I have a 07 Street Bob with a black engine. I had to ride a few miles in road construction behind a water truck. Got baked on mud all over engine, cases, exaust, you name it. Got home and washed and scrubbed with soap but can still see where the mud was, especially on the engine fins. Does anybody know how to get this stuff off?

S100 Engine Brite. I'll use WD-40 on the engine and exhaust parts before I wash it and it'll usually help take off any unwanted residue. Might be other things but these work for me.

I ain't buying SPIT from any dealers unless I absolutely can't get something elsewhere. I have the mud problem too - been on there for a long time. Someone in this website was sayin' that the S100 sux - residue or something.
Is there anything else that works.?

S100 works great, but ya gotta use it on a cold engine, & hose it off immediately! I've also found that black shoe polish works well on black engine parts. Use sparingly.

S100 is a brand name. Like saying Turtle Wax. Some of the stuff is good and some of the stuff is junk. Engine Brite makes the black parts black again and works very well.
