I just heard on the local news that HD has announced they are building a "trike?" Very interesting, their market must be getting older. Anyone have any information?
MSN reported it on Friday. At our HOG meeting Friday night, the owner of the dealership ( who attends every meeting by the way) was asked about the information. He said he had no knowledge of the immediate plans to offer the trikes but did say he knew the MOCO had been working with Lehman and that there were some legal hurdles to clear before they could be produced, maybe something about warranties and liabilities. He is usually pretty well informed about what's going on.
Harley to make 3-wheeled `trikes'MILWAUKEE - (AP) -- Harley-Davidson thinks its riders are ready for a three-wheeled hog.
The iconic motorcycle maker said Friday it will begin making three-wheeled motorcycles, also called trikes, in partnership with Lehman Trikes U.S.A.
Spearfish, S.D.-based Lehman already converts motorcycles made by Harley and other manufacturers into trikes, but the new line will be branded as HarleyDavidson and sold by its dealers.
Milwaukee-based Harley-Davidson did not release further details about the new bikes or when they would be released. Harley is continually looking to develop new products and expand the appeal of its brand, said Harley-Davidson Vice President Ron Hutchinson. 'Trikes are another way we can inspire the dream of owning a Harley-Davidson,' he said.
Lehman Trikes U.S.A. is a subsidiary of Lehman Trikes of Canada. The company has made trikes for more than 20 years.
