Novelty Helmet WithOUT Quick Release?
Hi Folks,
I've been away for a while, dealing with some personal issues (my wife has cancer). Coming out of a long dark period here with a fairly good outlook for the future, I've been back on the bike a bit.
So a question for you. I have a "novelty" helmet that I wear for quick rides around town etc. (I am fully aware of the issues, and also own two full coverage helmets.) But I hate the strap, due to the "quick-release" thing. I prefer traditional D ring straps. But for the life of me I can't find a novelty helmet with a D ring strap.
One company I emailed -- Hells Bells Helmets -- quickly responded with good information. Seems the quick releases can't be used if you want to qualify for DOT status. So the DOT helmets all have D rings. But people tend to want the quick disconnect, so they put them on the non-DOT helmets to please the consumers. Makes sense, but I don't want a big heavy thick DOT helmet for this use.
So...anyone know a nice, light, small novelty helmet that has a D ring strap?
And while I have you...is ACC gone?
