You don't need a 3/4 or FF, you just need ear plugs.
I rode to Sturgis and then down to Vegas before coming home again and I brought along my 3/4 DOT with faceshield in case of rain....I used ear plug every other time.
Even with earplugs my ears were ringing for days because of the wind noise...even with my 3/4 my ears were ringing for days..
I have a full face from Harley. I believe it's a rebadged HJC. It's pretty nice, but will not completely eliminate wind noise. I'd also suggest the molded earplugs. I haven't worn them yet, but I've heard lots of good things. I may get a set during Biketoberfest this year.
Well I went to two bike shops today and one was the stealers. At the stealers I tried on the Fulmer V2 bobber.I don't know in the store it just felt like it was crushing my face. They size was right, but I guess it has been quite a few years since I rode with anything but 1/2 face helmet. The custom earplugs might be an idea, but I bought some years ago for about $30 suppose to be custom fit,but hurt my ears, and my head throbbed for 2 days after a 1 hour ride.I was looking at a Fulmer 1/2 helmet that have a leather/cloth piece that covers the ear holes in between the straps.Does anyone know which helmet companies have these, and are they any good with reducing the wind noise?
i wear a jet helmet when im sure its not going to rain a jet helmet with a visor when it might rain or on my jap sports bike i wear a shoei xr1000 . its the best thing i ever put on my head its so comfortable even on blazeing hot days it keeps my head cool and with the pinlock visor insert it never fogs up in the rain . im pretty sure i could wear the shoei all day long without any problems .
bell make nice jet helmets just like the original ones from years ago . davada in the uk make really nice jet and puddingbowl helmets but they are expensif i would go with bell in a jet helmet myself . i seen an add for metelflake jet helmets in the horse magazine and old style bubble visors . i dont have the magazine so sorry i cant stick up a link to the company .
want to know what i think of **** helmets ,its like this if i were the fashion police i would give anyone i saw wearing one a ticket mind you they go real well with arseless chaps and fingerless gloves .
I have a Gmax 1/2 helmet that has zip out ear cover and an drop down visor. Most comfortable helmet I have ever had. I haven't worn it yet with the ear covers on. http://www.gmaxhelmet.com/
This is the same helmet I have and I really like it. I've never worn a half so I can't really say how it compares noise wise. When the shield is up it's unbearably loud, to me, over 40 mph. When it's hot (Houston) I flip face shield up at stop lights, flip it back down when I get going.
I usually use the sun visor with goggles unless I'm traveling long distance then I use the shield.

I wore a ACC half for several years and just got tired on the wind noise, ear ringing and floating on my head. I wore 3/4 helmets for years back in the 70s and liked em ok. So I got a Biltwell and a Fulmer V2. Eliminated all my problems, no wind noise, no floating and I can still hear my bike good. I don't know how some guys still have a problem with wind noise with a 3/4 or FF when the helmet fully covers your ears and have internal pads surrounding your ears. Their hearing must be a lot better than mine which is pretty bad anyway.
