There's a mag about vtwin motorcycles that has a contest to build on a budget. Creativity can beat cash, if that's a hangup. He could try renting a bike for 2 & doing a weekend ride as a couple also.
My wife said , not with "our" money. So I got my own money and brought one home. She said you did what? I said I bought a Harley with MY MONEY...end of discussion. Getting a little more respect too

When I got married, my wife said to me, "There's one thing you will never do again, and that is, ride a motorcycle." I just chuckled. Went out and bought one and brought it home on a nice sunny summer Saturday. She screamed and cried for about 30 minutes. Then I showed her the extra helmet and told her we had reservations for lunch at the local hot-spot outdoor cafe. It's been uphill ever since. Did the same thing with my Jeep...and my sailboat...and my kayaks...and my guitars. Most of the tools I just slipped in when she wasn't looking and she can't tell the difference.
Parental consent is not necessary to spend one's own hard earned money. (As long as the bills are all paid.)

No disrespect to the women who post opinions on this subject but you have to understand men and women will NEVER see this the same way ever . With you it's about control who has or doesn't in a relationship , with us it's something much more basic like just being a man .

Just buy it.If the wife will divorce over a purchase that isn't a mail order bride then it wasn't that great of a marriage anyway. There is nothing my wife could buy that I would divorce her over.
My short version is: Wife says no fore 5 years. I had to take test to renew drivers license at sec. of state office.(she was laughing at me on way to take the test) Wife went with me (we had 4 day weekend). I requested motorcycle endorsement test. I past test. She look at me mean and say why did you take the cycle test? I give an evil laugh. She said what dealership we going to?
End of happy, but crappy written story.

I actually bought my bike when my wife and I seperated for a year. I was amazed at how much money I always seemed to have then.
She tried to do the "Wasting OUR money" argument. When I pointed out it was my money and not ours anymore, she couldn't say too much to that! But after she rode on the back a few times we got back together. And, now, I'm always broke! I wonder if there is some corallation there?
