I don't know the whole story. I can only tell what I saw. A half mile above my house a small pickup truck t-boned a guy on a custom chopper. It appeared to be three bikes and the guy who got hit was in the rear. They were turning left and the truck hit him. A LEO said one of two things happened. The bikes and the truck tried to beat a yellow light or the truck ran the red light while the bikes had a green arrow. The bike was completely under the truck. He said he did not think the guy was going to make it. He was in pretty bad shape. They had to life flight him out. This happened right in front of an elementry school bus. This is the 3rd or 4th bike wreck within 7 miles of my house two have been fatal. This seems to be happening alot lately. Be careful out there. Please be in prayer for this guy and his family.
Hope the guy makes it and they investigate and charge whoever is at fault. If it is the p/u it is vehicular homocide - the truck would have committed a crime and killed someone by doing so. No different than a drunk if that is the case.
Last weekend a guy was killed down in SE Virginia leaving the ruritan clubhouse. Story is he was rearended and pushed into oncoming traffic, then broadsided by oncoming. This all in the middle of BUMF$%K Virginia.
Then this AM enroute to work, I was making a left with an arrow...3rd vehicle through... and a guy turning right made his move into the intersection, with me coming right at him...he never saw me. I straightened up, got on the breaks, and missed him. I ended up on his right side and he STOPPED cause he saw me then!!! so I continued around him. 5 miles an hour faster and I may not have avoided him. I think he was more scared of what happened then me or he was afraid to get close to me then...cause he hung WAY back.
There are way to many idiots out there... Please be careful!
Thought and prayers are with this guy, hope it turns out OK. I think you're right, there needs to be more motorcycle awareness training for the cagers. There are many more bikes out there than there used to be. With the price of gas going thru the roof more and more people are looking to the bike for less expensive transportation, and who can blame them 50 mpg sure beats 15.
