This stinks!
Bought an XElement vest a while back but didn't wear it until the weather stared getting a chill a few days back. I hung it in the entry after riding and the next morning noticed a very strong and unpleasant odor near the entrance. Tracked it down to the vest. I think it said it was buffalo leather when I bought it and didn't notice it then but it stinks like crazy. Maybe more like buffalo sh_t for all I know! I really like the smell of quality leather but it is't this. I have owned several nice jackets and other leather garments over the years and never smelled anything like this before. It was locked up in a closet with some cedar panels over the summer so I didn't notice it then. Even though I like the cut, this leather must be tanned differently or it comes from some pretty rank leather. Made in Pakistan if I am not mistaken. Does anyone else have this problem? Were you able to do anything to get rid of the smell? Hate to throw this out but can't get over the stink. No it did not get wet or animal pee on it.

I haven't noticed any oder coming from my Jacket or Chaps as of yet, and they are both new as of two weeks ago. These are the distressed brown leather ones, maybe the dyes are different.
Just a thought.
Have you tried any Febreeze<sp> on them yet?
