A 47 year old bike with under 3000 miles on it ? ..... what have they done to it ..... also they must have a price in mind what was it ? .....
Hi: I have a tow-truck that I don't use and this is going to be a straight trade. The truck is valued between 12k and 15k. I am trying to find out if this would be a good trade. thanks
Hi: in my past life I used to have a small business and that is why merchant, in 1996 I was rear-ended by a police car and that ended my career, driving days, and a whole lot of other things. the last time I was on a bike was as a passenger 45 years ago and when the dip-stick I was riding with tried a wheely; we ended up on our butts and lucky not to be hurt. My tow-truck that I am trading for the bike takes up a whole lot more room than the bike would and I am just trying to make sure I don't get snakebit.
thanks for your interest
For those of you who are curious about this thing. From the YouTube site: Its a pan head rigid frame with a shovel motor in it. Some Arlen Ness bling bling too.
The perfect bike for the first time rider.
Funny that a guy with 1 post under his belt, having the name "Merchant" is asking questions about "an idea on the limit that I should be spending".
Hi: you are right; from what I understand the original bike was a 1963, the motor is a 1979 shovelhead and the bling is arlen ness; the under 3000 miles is how many miles have been put on the bike since its custom rebuild. My disabilities will not allow me to ride it safely so putting dings in it won't happen. I just want to make sure that the value is there and I am not giving away my wrecker and am hoping you guys can help me establish that.
Thanks
A bike like that, in this economy, will be almost impossible to sell unless you ask around 5-6 grand. No way will you get the value of your truck. Even then--I think the days of the custom chopper are over,'cause they have about the same resale value as a boat. I think people nowadays want something they can get parts for & get worked on, & that's reliable. I would say keep your truck,DEFINITELY!
A bike like that is worth exactly what someone will pay. If the total build is as nice as the paint and chrome I would maybe go 5500 and hope it wasn't a mistake. Would you take 5500 for your truck?

there is somthing wrong with this bike.. that really doesnt look like a panhead frame.. it looks like paugho or somthing..any way in 63 the title went with the motor, the frame had no numbers.. in 70 the frame had the vin and motor was suposed to match but it was a crap shoot for a few years.. so it would be considered a 79 with a custom frame.accualy tittled as 19??-20??(yr it was inspected),home built.. what do the title numbers match up with..
i have a 72flh titled as a 77homebuilt, i just relised it is a older frame with no numbers.. if i was ever puled over, would take a lot of fast talking to prove it is mine
