Today at a HD dealership I saw a 20 year old stock Ducatti in the lot. It was getting more attention than any other bike on the property. Not because it was a Duc, just because of the condition it was in and you never see one anymore.

Same thing with old Harley's. Anytime you see an old pan or shovel that is in stock condition, and still polished up, you will see a crowd gathering around it.
cool if you buy a vintage one............. but I got a feeling that a stock twincam isn't going to get the same reaction 20 years from now...........

Probally not, but maybe in 40 years. My oldest son has already asked for my current bike when I pass.

The factory seldom builds in enough performance to suit me, so upgrading the motor and suspension is generally a given. I'm not a big fan of excessively chromed-out bikes, but a little bit is nice. The paint job on my bike is a riff on the Ultra Limited. It looks like it could be a stock paint job, but it's not, and it's unlikely I'll ever see a bike exactly like mine, and I like that.

If you wanted a bike that you did not have to modify, you should buy a Honda.

Yes I always do mods on all my new bikes but I do not add chrome.
  1. Big Sucker air cleaner
  2. SERT
  3. Free flow exhaust (got rid of the catolitic converter) and Reinhearts
  4. LED tail light and blinkers front and rear
  5. HID headlight
  6. Heated Seat for Mama (she is a freeze baby)
I want my 103ci to breath and perform also I want people to see me and I can see the road.

A few mods:

Screamin' Eagle air cleaner (was on the bike when I bought it)
Performance modified slip on mufflers (OEM mufflers modified by a performance shop)
Power Commander III/usb
Oil cooler (also on the bike when I bought it...so might be stock)
Turn signal/brake light/running light conversion (for safety)
A little extra chrome here and there...nothing too fancy.
And a set of blue LED accent lights! They don't make the bike any faster, but I think they look really cool at night! LOL (they also make it easier to find in the parking lot....hehe)

Like a previous poster pointed out....just enough to make it my own.

mods. I wouldn't want to ride something that anybody else could just go buy of the showroom floor.

It does make some sense, though....I don't think I could find mods for my Goldwing if I tried...They just don't make stuff for the bikes that are more than 10 years old.

My bike. My tastes. If others like it great if not, no biggie.
Doesn't dilute my enjoyment of it in the least.
