Question Stuck

I am stuck. I am very attatched to my 2006 Dyna Street Bob, but have been considering getting a new bike, since my Street Bob has just over 50,000 miles on it now. I agreed not to have two bikes. I have been looking at the 2011 Street Glide, I like it very much, problem is it just didnt grab me the way the Street Bob did back in 2006. I have concerns that I will not like it as much as the bike I have now.

Has any one went from a Dyna to a tourer with the same dilema.

Rent one and see if it's what you want.

Why can't you have both? I plan on buying a touring bike next after my Streetbob is paid for. Then I am going to buy either a Streetglide, Roadglide, or Ultra Classic. For most of my life I have had more than one bike,, usually more than two bikes (though not all harleys)

Before they called them Dynas, I went from a FXS Low Rider to an Ultra Classic. I never could get into the Ultra like I had been with the FXS. I traded for a Softail Custom, FXSTC, and never looked back. Now I have a Road King Custom and although I love it and know it is a great bike, I still miss something about a bike that seems more hard core, less civilized, or whatever. I guess I need to go ahead and buy the apes and unbaffled Samson fishtails and whatever else to make this FLHRS a little nasty.

You will miss the Dyna but the Street Glide is a fine ride. WTH, you can always go back if you don't feel that thing. If you don't try it you will probably always wonder if you screwed up. Old bikes are like old girl friends. You never completely get over them.

I'm considering the same thing, although the dyna is paid off. The street glide is a totally different ride from the dyna. I rode one for a few days while my motor was getting built and both me and the gf like the way it rode. I was surprised on how it handled for a heavy bike, having a radio made the ride that much more enjoyable, and she liked that it was way more comfortable the the dyna. But not having 2 bikes "a one for me and a one for us" would be out of the question.

Best suggestion is to go ride one. Rent one for an extended weekend so you can really put some miles on 'er. You'll either want one or you'll keep your Dyna.

Have a good friend that went from a 2009 Fat Bob to a 2011 Street Glide with the Power-Pack option (103"+ stuff). In his opinion, no comparison. The SG is so much better in performance and ride. He upgraded the SG with V&H pipes, better HD speakers, ECM and Dyno tune. He always has his Ipod plugged in with his favorite tunes. He says it doesn't get much better.
