I bought a pair of Gronell Klondike hiking boots a few years ago and they are the most comfortable boots I have ever owned plus they are waterproof. I just checked out their prices and all I can say is they have really gone up in price but the quality is there. I don't know if they make a REALLY wide boot or one with a HUGE arch support, but it won't hurt to look. BTW, they are laceups-no zipper.
Want a pair of comfortable, light-weight, and good looking riding boots? They seem warm but aren't winter boots. And also super cheap at $29?!? These are called police boots in the Colorado Springs store. Feel great and not super heavy like other boots. They feel like they will last a while. Maybe not as long as a $300 pair, but I can buy ten pairs of these for that price - that should last for a bit!
I've tried the Internet route for boots and, after 3 failures to get a pair that fit properly, I gave up trying to order online. your location says West GA. so I recommend that you go to High Plains Western Wear in Marietta. They have a great selection of boots and you can try them on to find a pair that fits.
Are you on a budget or just want the best boot? Try the Sidi Canyons. I've got mine on right now in my office. Comfortable on/off the bike. $300 USD but when these wear out I'm getting another pair. Love them. Warm but not hot, dry in wet weather, light, great traction on the grips. They have kind of a goofy rachet system to tighten them, but other that that, perfect in a word.
Check out that stompersboots website. They got some interesting, and some very expensive boots on there. I never heard of Wesco boots but they run anywhere from $370 to $500. Dayum!
Hehehe I stopped by stompers boots in San Francisco last year... Hole in the wall catolog mail order boot store... Did not have anything in stock... tried to sell me some boots that were on consignment.
Got measured for some custom fit Wesco's at Sturgis and they will be finally here tomorrow...
My own boots are waterproof leather euro-style touring TCX zip-ups w/ Gore Tex liner, a large Velcro flap and molded soles: http://www.tcxboots.com/usa/
I love the INSTANT on/off. When I tried these on they fit like a glove, and they are very supple, aiding braking and shifting. There are no metal fittings to scratch your bike.
I have the TCX Airtech Goretex and these are the most comfortable boot I have ever had. They are lighter than tennis shoes, and waterproof all day long. It rains here in Fl everyday in the summer and my feet have never gotten wet in these boots. The winter part I can't help you with, but western Ga shouldn't get too cold?
