I have nothing at all against leather. But, the sad fact is it is coming down to the ole'$$$ issue. $150.00 versus $300+. The textile jackets have all of the protection (not all, but close), at a lower price.
its a false economy. textile gear is good for one get off. leather scuffs, and is still good. it sounds abstract, but everyone crashes, trust me on that. a good leather jacket will last you a long time.

check out Hein Gericke "first gear" stuff. not too expensive ($300) but it vents well (isnt too hot) and survives a crash well, both saving your skin and wallet (by not needing replacement).

You can find good leather for $100 to $150, just look around. Tim

Exactly. I have a Pakistani steerhide traditonal biker jacket that I bought from JC Whitney in '92 for 88 bucks. I wrecked once in it, and rode about 50k with it on. It still looks pretty good.

Check out www.leatherup.com I have bought several things from them and have always been pleased, and I dont believe you can get a better deal on a good leather jacket.

In the long run leather is CHEAPER. My latest leather jacket is a Hein Gericke. It is 12 years old and is just getting broke in. It will last at least another 12 years if not longer.

No fabric coat would come close to that. That's why I say that leather is cheaper.

To answer your question: Nr. 1 so long as it's all black and not the power ranger look as previously stated.

there are plenty of good deals on leather. You will have to for go the HD label and buy something from Pakistan or Korea, but the protection and wearability of leather is worth it.

Go for the leather. With a little looking you can find good quality leather either on the net or locally. My brother got his first leathers at a pawn shop for $50.00. It does last a whole lot longer than the textile garments.

AFA your original question, I like the denim.

Ummmm...everyone crashes? Been riding 28 years...never crashed, ride with tons of people...none of them crashed either. You might want to consider being a safer rider!
