i bought a 07 dyna low rider and recently noticed an annoying rattling coming from somewhere in the front end. after some investigation, it turned out to be the mini nacelle that covers the handlebar risers. they're only attached by a plastic u-shaped brace that keeps them on tension with the risers. but the plastic piece gets loose quickly, causing the bottom of the chrome-plated nacelle to start rattling against the handlebars. it's VERY noticable and annoying, especially around 2500-3000 rpm.
i took it to the dealer shop and they looked at it, and one of the mechanics said that he was surprised mine didn't start rattling right away after i bought it a month ago. he said he's seen a bunch of these 07 bikes and every single one of them that has this mini-chrome nacelle has started rattling. he said that HD will probably have a recall on the part soon with a quick fix to eliminate the rattling. in the meantime, i was out of luck.
so i went to the local hardware store and got me some adhesive felt strips, cut a couple of small pieces, and attached to the underside of the nacelle, where the bottom was making contact with the bars. fixed it right up.
i thought i'd share this info with the board here, in case anyone else ran into the same problem.
