Custom Paint!!
I have a 09 FLHX vivid black.... I would like a custom paint job. I don't know what I want though. I do NOT want flames, skuls, or tribal.. I do like the color orange.. I was hopeing for some kick *** ideas from some memebers on this site... I don't have a very good imagination when it comes to this stuff.... Lets here your ideas.. Thanks

depends on your budget. You could leave the black as your main colour & do some air brushing over it like razor wire wrapped all around your bike.
you could air brush a big rip in your fuel tank with a bottle of Jack Daniels hanging out.
Look at import colours, there is a lot of cool colours out lately.

Walleyeking, Google the custom paint/motorcycle site & forums. Many have huge galleries of bikes with hundreds of paint color combinations and schemes.

Harley Davidson here in south Florida has Custom paint displays, Pretty nice paint jobs. I saved a business card for his website www.ospaint.com

If your black paint is in really good shape, you might could save $ by letting that be the base coat. You like orange, which looks killer on black and is a classic HD combo, so you could do something orange over the black.
A lot of the ideas that I get are regional. I live in the Southwest, so I think of local Mexican and Native American images.
You could look at images related to your area, Minnesota, or other places you've lived. Or something you really enjoy(ed). Like, if you like fishing, you could put a big orange bass on there or a fish skeleton or something.
That's how I approach it anyway.
