Figure I get an AK47 or old Garand coated with this stuff, still looks new after 40+ years of storage it will work on a bike lol. (Just a joke, PITA to clean out of wood, dunno if I'd dare on a bike)
WD-40 from top to bottom will not hurt your bike, you might want a second can half way through the winter.
Riding season and Simple Green or degreaser works fine, followed by a blast on the highway to blow dry.

Yep , paint and all...
I was horrified the first time I saw this, but they just sprayed 'em off in the spring and off they went..
That was a while ago and it's probably an old school method replaced by some new fancy spray from China offered at wal-mart...

There you have it...
I will say that out of the hundreds of bikes I saw stored this way that not one of them had a problem from it...
Thanks for rubbing it in, but at least we don't need to scuttle for hurricanes...
Storms go all the way up the east and west coasts occasionally. But we never have to shovel snow, or "winterize" our rides. That being said, WD-40 works great on boat engines, and electronics for rust and corrosion.

So despite its said uses and claims, I no longer use it on anything, and haven't in years. I refuse to use it on anything anymore, after it was tested and found to attract moisture and dust. That ole hodge podge of fluids mixed up by a fellow years ago, now have many better choices and materials to spray on most anything they want.
And to think of all the ole timers I knew who sprayed it on their fire arms. Wow!
