Listen to the Doctor. They want you to heal the right way. If your half healed and you ride and you injure yourself from straining you arm you could do more damage. Then you've just doubled your rehab time and might have possible permanent damage.
I just got back on a bike after mine got totalled in the middle of July. I think that someone assigns people who keep circling our house with their bikes singing and rubbing my nose in the fact that I couldn't ride. Now that I have a bike, I don't notice them anymore. They're gone. It sounds like they went to your place.
My arm wasn't injured, but my head was. The wait worked out well, because I really wasn't ready to ride. And the new bikes are really nice. Mine was worth waiting for. And I'm enjoying it more because I didn't have it for awhile.
Take care of your rehab. It'll make your first ride more comfortable. I'm on my way to Illinois to join the parade around your empty garage.
Sorry to hear about your situation. I have been without my ride for 7 months now for different reasons. Hope to be back on the road soon. I know exactly what you mean about seeing other bikes on the road and you can't be. Sucks!
Be aggressive with your physical therapy. My daughter broke her wrist (after rolling a quad over) and when to a therapist that gave her some exercises. Then her housemate who has some experience in pt gave her some more aggressive exercises and manipulation, she now has complete movement with very little pain. Hang in there, you'll be back in the saddle before you know it

It does happen.
LISTEN TO THIS MAN !!!!
After racing professionally for many years and MANY, MANY broken bones I can tell you that's true .. The first thing I did when I broke a bone was try to ride again, usually before it was even set...
(I actually raced with my harness on under my leathers ...had a broken collarbone, broken elbow, metacarpals, and a dislocated shouder)
I have done some pretty serious long term damage because I was young & dumb...
Now that I'm old and dumb, when I brake a bone I give it sufficient time & therapy to let it heal...
But I still seem to be breaking them ..tail bone last year and broke my leg into three pieces the year before that.. (snowboarding..LOVE IT STILL !!!)
