I've never been, but I was thinking about a week before would be good, some riders showing up, motels still available... etc. Glad I read the thread though, several here seem to confirm this.

I've done mid October. A bit brisk in the morning, but nice after around 10am till the sun starts going down. (Disclaimer, had a windscreen)

I was thinking about going the last 2 weeks of june. I went to the rally 2 years ago and it was fun, but it was a cluster. I loved the riding but don't think I want to deal with that big of a crowd again. How the motels and camping around that time, anyone know

I rode up there a few weeks prior to the rally and it was a little chilly in the mornings but warmed up nicely by mid morning.

I have gone four times the weekend after Labor Day. Kids back in school. Very quiet. Some days it was like we had the whole area to ourselves. A couple cool mornings and one with a little snow. But overall pretty good weather. My $0.02

I lived in Blackhawk, just down the road from Sturgis, for 6 years, and I always liked autumn the best. September is my favorite riding time anyway.

Ive said (or hoped) it a thousand times.......move the rally a month earlier or a month later. I live in north east Nebraska and our weather in August is just unbareable most of the time.
