If it was a bone stock Liberty Edition, you could almost name your price!
Is that the one with a "custom" tank paint job? A friend had one about 20 years ago and wanted about $3k for it then...it was completely stock, wish I had the money back then it was a cool bike.
An AMF shovel needs to be completely stripped down and rebuilt, by hand, by me, for me to feel it is ready to go. Engine tranny and primary need to be gone through.
A shovel that has been rebuilt CORRECTLY, and maintained wil last and last. Even when they need a top end eventually, the bottom of the motor will be just fine.
Run 20W50 in her with an oil cooler, and change the oil every 2,000 miles or so.

They definitely need TLC.

Gotta disagree on the 20-50 oil , shovelhead lifter systems are not tight enough for that they need heavy single weight oil to hold when running hot & long . The multi will work if they have been upgraded to late model lifters like the Jims or S&S sets but not stock . The last couple years they were produced had better oiling systems but we are talking the 82 to 84 models anything before 50wt or in hot country 60 or 70 wt in the summer .

+1 In the hot summer 60 wt for sure. Got to be thick enough to walk on, if you want it to hold up to the summer heat.
I've still got some old Harley Davidson 50 in the cardboard cans.
