I dont know much about Canadian law but they tried speed cameras here and would mail offenders a ticket. Most people just simply through the ticket in the garbage because state law requires that a citation be presented by a dually appointed officer.
The state lost money so they canceled the contract with the private camera contractor and ordered that all the cameras be shut down.

That sucks. What if someones vehicle backfires in the vicinity as you are passing the camera? Unless the device records as well, I dont see how they can pin it on you.
