Default How to ship Handlebars?

I took the stock mini pullbacks of of my '08 FXDC and would like to offer them on the forum. How in the heck do you package bars? I've seen them arrive at the dealer just wrapped in plastic, but I would be afraid of damage during shipment. Any suggestions? I'm gonna offer them REAL CHEAP to anyone interested as soon as I figure this out. Thanks. Fred

go to a local car dealer and ask the parts dept for any long cardboard boxes they don't need. i work at a honda dealer and we always get parts in long boxes.. mainly accessorys, like running boards, moonroof visors, rear spoilers, etc.. i'm sure they'll have something close to what you need even if you have to cut it down some.. some accessorys even come packed in styrofoam blocks to keep them from shifting..

Or...you can just hand them over to UPS & let them worry about packaging. Could add this into price of bars - just a thought.

Foam pipe insulation. The black stuff used to insulate PVC and copper pipe. Lowes and Home Depot carries it. Comes in a variety of sizes from 1/2" and up.

Slip it over the bars, and pack them into the appropriate size box with that foam peanut packing stuff.

I use bicycle boxes for ape hangers. Bikeshop. USPS is far less expensive than UPS or Fedex for the shipping charge too.

Yeah, I'm seriously thinking about this and if I insure them the buyer and I will be protected. Thanks

UPS will charge you an arm and a leg to package something like that. Use them for shipping if you want, just get your own box.
