i get a 17% discount with at&t which more then pays for the membership. i am sure that you can get better towing with someone else, but if you are going to join a local chapter you have to be a national member. i am also a member of a local chapter and while i am sure there are many here who will make fun of people who are members, to each there own. me and my wife have a great time. i am sure there are some chapters that go a little overbored but this chapter is perfect for us. you could try it for a year and see how you like it.
At our dealer if we keep up the national and local dues we get 15% off everything cept labor.
Sons had 3 new bikes in four yrs and I got mine in 07, still have it. With all the mods we've made and the parts we've bought with the 15% off, believe me We have saved a lot, lot more than the cost of the dues.
We have 3 HOG chapters in my city. They all are different. Some are more active than others. Some dealers support their local chapter more than others. If you find a good chapter, you can have a great time. It is what you make it. You have to show you are interested and want to participate. Our chapter not only has rides a couple times a month, they have a bowling league for the winter time. I've met some great people and we all have a lot of fun. You need to visit a local HOG meeting to see if that chapter fits you. If not try another before giving up.
Some suck, some are great.
I love the one I'm in. They've been nothing but nice & encouraging (with wife learning to ride) and a great group of people.
But have heard some horror stories about useless ones, too.
So it all comes down to the people in it, and what you want out of it.
Im in a hog chapter and i love it. My wife and I have alot of fun riding with the club. All we do is eat and goof on anything that comes to mind. They charge me 25. a year to be in it and its worth it. Some of my non hog honda riding friends tag along some times. Its good times.
Since I'm a Harley owner now I've been considering joining HOG. Is it worth the price of the dues for a membership and an associates membership? what are the benefits? I want ya'lls opinions not the HOG website benefits.
Thanks,
Tim
I'd say yes - you get discounts on parts and here they have plenty of good rides and events. If you don't want to participate, then probably not worth it, but if you do, it's a great deal.
