FLSHC etc etc

can somebody give a logical explanations and help me understand all HD motor cycles. I am new and terribly confused. I have a Softail Heritage Classic and I understand S is for Softail family, Heritage is H and C i Classic? and I could be injected..? but help me understand all that greek and their history. HD history did not go into it much....Waht does F stand for (no joke here) what is l...bla bla

If you have a Heritage, it should be an FLSTC or FLSTCI.

My honey has a FLSTCI , the I is for I-njected, but you should be able to see if ya are injected or not, do ya have a fuel valve down on the left side by your seat??

Also, on pg. 28 of his owners manual, it gives the break down of the "code", and each model, pictured in the front of the man. showes the "FL/FX's" for the models of HD's that are covered in the manual.
