Looks like someone did a lot of changing parts. A 82 FXE looked nothing like that. Looks like it was owned by someone who took great care of it though. If you get it and someone has not already done it, change the stock rear shovelhead shocks to late model Dyna shocks. They bolt right on. Lots of shovel guys do that, they ride and work far better than stock shovel shocks. The bike has the same ride height although dyna shocks are 1/2" longer. Same for the late model Kehein CV. Best working carb for a shovel.
I ride a 1985 FXR, and have to say it is the best handling Harley Big Twin ever...BUT, I have always loved the 4 speed FX bikes. The frame, to me, is the best looking rear-suspension frame ever made and it does what it's supposed to do and does it well. I bought an '81 FXS (Low Rider) new and never had a problem. Also had a stripped down '76 FLH (same frame) and an '85 FXSB, last year of that frame, except for a few '86 FXWGs. That '85 had an Evo. So yeah, I like 'em. If it seems like a good buy, go for it. The FX lineage goes back to the '58 Duo-Glide, so there's real heritage there. The frame carried bikers across the country from '58 to '86 (and still does). Pretty good testament to the design.

Yep Coyote, that's a narrow front end....Looks like an aftermarket oil-cooler installed with a "chin" air dam below the cooler...Low seat height and forward controls...If it's mechanically sound you are in the game! Killer Paint too! Have your Bro give a listen to the engine and with permission from the seller have your Bro take it for a quick spin!!!
Wow ! Thats one nice looking bike . With a great paint job too and it looks clean and well looked after . If you can get that for the same price as a Sportster of around the same vintage then you've got a great deal I'd say .
82' is The last year I think, for the Shovel. They also made a
FXR with a shovel that year. I had the FXR and it was
a good bike, Nothing wrong with an old shovel except maybe
finding stock parts.
Shovel's were on the street till 84 and few into real early 85 for the cops specials . 82 was a good year for any configuration for them , I had an 82 FXR I still regret selling . Good luck .
