In West Virginia we have to pay a property tax on all vehicles owned every year when we renew our tags.Even though we pay a tax on all vehicles when purchased.Just got my renewal for my bike the other day,16 dollars for one year but if ya renew for two it only costs 32 dollars.Pretty good deal huh?
Paying 78.00 a year in WA for my 05' Road King. This will jump another 20$ when I renew next month. Local taxing (city of Lynnwood) authority will bump all vehicle tabs because of their reckless spending.

Forgot to mention. Based on year, value, msrp at time of sale. Goes down every year. New was bout $350.00
holy s**t! i think you win.
in la, we pay $12.00 for 4 years. we do have property tax, but it's only on 'real' property, ie house, land.... but we do have to pay sales tax on the whole enchilada, at about 8%. but if you have a trade, that value comes off before tax is calculated, they figure you paid tax on the vehicle when you bought it, so it isn't right to double tax you. mighty nice of them
2010 FLSTC I just renewed it for 2011 at $244. ($175 is tax deductible Federal and State). The total amount is based on the original sales price and is then depreciated each year. We also pay 8.75% Sales Tax at the time of purchase and if you trade it in, the trade-in value does not reduce the taxable amount on the new vehicle. Oh, and if you fail to renew (or pay for an annual PNO Planned Non Operation registration) . . . you better sell it out of state because the penalties and back registration fees for the new owner can get into some serious money after a couple of years of being parked.
