Default Caught by unexpected weather!

I rode to work yesterday. Every morning, I check the weather service for the forecast. Sunny with a high temp. of +6c (42f). Snow was not mentioned at all. When I left the job site, 50 miles from home, it was sunny and warm. About 10 miles in to my trip, I noticed some very dark clouds rapidly over taking me. I had about 25 miles left to go when the hail and snow hit! The remainder of my route is rural back roads. No safe place to leave my ride over night. I decided to continue home. The snow was coming down heavily, large wet flakes. I put my hazard lights on, kept the tranny in 2nd and tried to relax. I passed 2 single vehicle and 1 multi-vehicle accidents. I navigated several down hill turns with minimal slippage. The snow added an extra 30 min. to my commute. By the time I got home, 4 inches of snow was on the ground.

That's just more proof the weatherman knows two things:

1. What the weather's doing now.

2. What the wearther did yesterday.

Glad you made it home safe and weren’t in a hurry like the dumba$$ cagers. That goes to show what you CAN do if you slow down and THINK about you are doing.

And I have to agree with Mal74

Incidently, I did the math and you have 87,829 miles. Those Km's mess us up down here.

Wow, gota hand it to ya, I probably would have freaked and just sat on the side of the road. My bike is sitting on a lift in the garage and that's where it will be staying for a while!

been there, I got caught in a storm back in 83, wasnt supposed to snow and ended up riding home in about 3" snow/slush using my feet as stabalizers on an old cb350.
took about 2 hours to thaw my feet out.

Glad to see you took it easy and got back home safely, I used to do the same thing riding right up to snow took over the season, I've also been caught trying to get home in inches of snow, not my idea of fun.

Gotta admit you did a fantastic job of keeping your cool. Last spring the sky was clear and bright, went for a ride, coming home I ran smack into a snow squall. Complete white out, talk about scared. I will never do that stunt again. Lost 8 of my nine lives LOL
