Illinois allows drivers under 18 to get the endorsement for the larger displacement bikes (M class) if you take the IDOT motorcycle safety course. Normally they are limited to 150cc & under until they are 18 (L class)
So when I turned 16, I took the 4 day course, got my license, and then went out & bought a V-65 Honda.
Looking back, that's scary! I certainly wouldn't let my daughter ride on the back of a bike like that with some 16-year-old boy!
Only problem is getting an appointment to take the road test. They are only given in certain places and only a couple times a month. There is no waiting list they post the schedule on the dot website and then it is whoever gets there first to put their name in. Better off with the course, unless they cancell it like Gateway Tech did 3 years ago
Too true. Went to Sturtevant, asked to schedule test. They tell me to go to Kenosha. Wait at Kenosha, they tell me to go to Milwaukee.
