Leather seem more useful and windproof.

But like Brenn said.....get her some leather.

North Face makes good stuff, but that jacket isn't going to do squat if you two end up on the pavement. Get her leather.

that jacket won't stop wind and she'll be freezing, not to mention it's worthless for protection. get her a nice thick lined leather and layer thin layers underneath, t-shirt, long john shirt, thin fleece, if needed a thicker fleece, then a thick leather on top. typically the face and hands get cold before the core anyway. i still haven't found a pair of gloves that i can use in 30 degree and below weather and my hands don't freeze.
