Sorry there are limits. We were on PCH in Cali from san Simeon to Monterey and there we 50 mph + gusts that were blowing my loaded SG and my buddies loaded UC all over. They were so sudden coming in and out of the curves that it damn near put us in the ditch a couple of times. So yeah in my book yes. Didn't help the road was down to one lane because of landslides and nothing but gravel surface and no guard rail for 5 sections of the trip no fun two up)
I don't enjoy riding in strong winds, especially side winds and if i aint enjoying it, then what is the purpose. To each their own, but to me it is all about enjoying the ride.
If you live in Texas and don't ride in the wind you would have what, maybe 5-6 days of riding a year. It stays windy here, it's one thing my Ex hated about Texas, "it's alway windy" she would bitch. Keeps her in Pa Thank God lol --20-25 mph is kinda normal for us. Now 50 mph and when the sand and dust kicks up it's time to head to the barn.
If I can't control the bike in the wind, then it's too windy. If it is too tiring on a long ride, then it's too windy. If it blows crap all over the place, then it's too windy. Other than that, it's not too windy.
Very strange thread--if I can keep the bike upright and I have the time I will ride, dont really give a sh%$ about the wind unless the wind is really windy then Istill ride
25 mph cross winds on the Skyway Bridge would give you pause...
'depends where you are riding IMO.
A 25 mph cross wind going over the Skyway Bridge (or others like it) would not be fun while crossing it. Of course even getting hit by a 20 or 30 mph blast of cross wind on the ground can startle you if you're unaware.
I might ride & be a little more focussed than when I am in my usual lean back one handed mode
