I'm a conservative, BUT...this city if fighting over whether or not to have a bike week. They project it would bring 20 Mill to our city, with planning for several classic rock bands to boot.
Now we have people whining about the crowds and noise it would bring to our oh so wholesome conservative city.
They already have a bike night with Blues On The Mall, a huge success that continues to grow n grow.
I can't believe the city a*holes are listening to the whiners of this city and might vote to pass up a golden economy boosting great event.
It's long pass time to silence the whiny b****es in our country and this city!
Sorry...just had to vent it out!
Just come down to Sandusky, Ohio for our bike week. Actually bike 10 day event. Oh yeah, bring your money with ya. If Grand rapids doesn't want it, we'll be more than happy to take it.
If the "Dutch Mafia" in GR would let go a little bit, it could be a really nice place. It is not by any means a "dying city" like Newsweek recently reported.
One example, Grand Rapids has an amazing, rapidly growing medical community.Plus, the economy there is way better than the rest of the state I believe.
Let bike week happen GR, you won't be disapointed...
Here is a thought for you. Gather a group of fellow bikers, petition local businesses that would be affected by Bike Week, get your neighbors to sign a petition, and pay a visit to the Mayor. Become more vocal than the whiners that have nothing more than SOA as a point of reference for bikers. Show the Mayor how much of a fiscal boon it will be for your fair town, give examples from other cities that hold similar rallies. Remind him that you vote as well.
