Default Security System

Hey Folks, I recently bought an 08 Street Glide. It came with a key fob for the security system, but I think I just want to turn the security off. How do I do that? Thanks.

Did you get the owners manual with it? You need an owners manual. It will explain the security system and the settings. You need a default code set in the alarm to make life easier if the alarm sets and your key fob is dead/somewhere else. I like my security system because once the bike has armed itself no honest fool or kid can start it accidentally. My 03 has the alarm, my 98 doesn't.

Entering the code will only disable the alarm until the bike is turned off. Then it must be reentered each time.

The alarm system is built into the bank angle sensor and turn signal unit. It would cost $ to remove all the components then replace with the system without the alarm..

Who ever you bought it from should have the code and the owners manual which will show how to disable the alarm or change the code to your own preference.

You would have to remove the current TTS module (with alarm) and replace it with a stock (no alarm) tts module.

Thanks guys. I bought the bike from a repo outfit and they didn't have the owner's manual or much info on the bike. I will so a little research on the vin and see if i can figure out where the bike was first sold. If anyone knows an easy way to find out I would appreciate hearing about it. Thanks again!

I'm afraid I'll lose the one and only key fob that i have and then i'll be screwed. The battery died in the fob recently and kind of woke me up to how dependant i am on it. since the bike is mostly in the garage I'm not too worried about security. thanks for your help.

oh ok, makes sense now. You can get another fob from your dealer and they can program it. not sure how much they cost. Friend of mine did it so I know it can be done.

maybe, maybe not..... but it isn't like it is difficult for the owner to retrieve it by himself. as long as he has an owners manual (or access to the forum) AND a working key fob, he's good.
