To me it has nothing at all to do with being cheap. I just don't want to give one more penny than I have to to the gas companies.

+1 - Since the OP didn't list any info about his bike, I suggest he RTFM.
If it needs higher octane, use it. Otherwise, it's nothing but money down the drain.
Higher than needed octane does not make more HP and typically reduces fuel mileage.
Ethanol free gas is avaliable in limited areas. Search ETHANOL FREE GAS for locations in USA & Canada. Some folks think Ethanol harms Harleys. This folks thinks his Harley runs better E free.
This has probably been asked 1000 times but I searched and couldnt find a definite answer. When i bought my 2010 superglide the dealer told me I needed to run 93 in the bike is this true for a stock setup?
Ya Got a Valero there. They have 92 octane at it.
Valero is made at Port Arthur, Texas refineries.
I run at least 93, do not want any pistons rattling down there. I do not cut expense when it comes to fuel, oil, oil filters and insurance. When I doing 70+ and want to pass, I want to know I have done everything I can to keep everybody happy down there. If something happens it is not because I cut a corner to save $
I ran my '09 FXDC FOR 15K miles out of 16k miles total on regular 87 octane. When I went to 103" Stage lll build no engine or piston damage was found. I also used Walmart Dino oil.
Now with almost 8K miles on this build with a 10.5 to 1 compression I'm still experimenting with regular 87 octane on every other fill up without any issues.
The only reason I have been using premium gas is due to being guilted into doing so by my riding buds.
well first off the highest we can get around here is 91 so i guess all our bikes are on the downside according to your source i run 91 and only try to put chevron in it i buy that they have the best additives ect ect, my son has run knothing but 85 and on a hot day if we are in traffic sometimes his bike will go into parade mode, and mine will run just fine so go figure
