The clunk has been explained in many posts, its from the higher torque motor kicking back on the compensator on startup, all higher output motors have this, no problem, your problem was something else and its a fact **** happens, it will be fixed and everything will be fine. I hate it but I have not bought a motor vehicle in the past 10 years that didnt have some issue. They were all taken care of so no big deal other than some aggravation.
I have, 3 different Honda's, and other then normal service absolutely nothing.
Well one more day for the ring gear to arrive from Va. They say I will have it for the weekend, I sure hope so. I thought about it all week and called to ask them about the teeth that was missing and the shavings, where do they go. How do they make sure there's nothing left in the engine? This has been a nightmare, I don't think I've slept a full night since this happened. I'm also waiting for my Rine Hard Pipes that are on order and won't be finished until November 15th. I wish I knew all this before I traded in my 05 RK Classic. Never a problem, and oh so beautiful.
Thanks all of you for listening and understanding. I'm not a rich man so I can't just run out and buy a bike whenever I want like some people. I guess I can only hope for the best. If all else fails and it don't fix the problem they will just have to give me another bike. I'll keep you posted
The engine, primary, and trans have seperate oil. Your starter drive and ring gear are in the primary. I love my 07 Fatboy. My rear exhaust pipe leaked at the cyl head and
turn blue badly. Harley is replacing the pipe under warranty.
I recently read a marketing report that quoted the folks at Honda as saying they have decided the way to capture more market share from the MoCo is to build on the owner / brand / dealer loyalty that Harley enjoys.
What that really means is that Honda is going to make their bikes to require more face time with the dealerships... shorter maintenance intervals or less reliable? Afterall you gotta get people into the dealerships more often to forge those strong relationships.
Perhaps it's been a conspiracy by the MoCo all along to ensure that buyers of 07 models forge an even stronger "relationship" with the dealers and MoCo.
More problems = more dealership visits = building a stronger relationship!
For the record, even though I've already made two "service/repair" visits at 1800 miles I'm still very happy with my 07 Ultra SE.

Youre nuts.

Maybe, maybe not.... it's been 10 1/2 years since I last went to the Chrysler dealership for my 96 Jeep Cherokee... it's hardly been 10 1/2 hours since I last visited the HD dealership for my 07 Ultra (this week alone)...
