I'd do the ride in a Heartbeat! Up the Coast (Hwy 1) through Morro Bay, Big Sur, Monterey, Half Moon Bay, No problem. and as far as Lunch goes, The area isn't bad during the Daylight hours, But I wouldn't be caught dead there after Dark. That's when the real Freaks come out.

I am not sure what assless chaps are? I thought all chaps just covered your legs. I have never worn them just seemed to expensive to want to sweat that much. I guess they could be useful in the rain...... No neither one. dont know what assless chaps are and I drank to many cigerette buts back in that day at the end of parties to want to drink anything off the road.
Already did the ride, in chaps, in November. Yes, it was cold. Left the Sierras and rode into Frisco then down the coast through Monterey, Big Sur and down to SoCal. Didn't do the lunch stop but we did get to see the Arlen Ness facility. The wife was always happy to get off the bike at the end of the day and find a warm motel. Never would try any liquids found on the side of the road. Not that nuts.
