Just had the saddlebag inserts installed from Leather Lid Inserts. Dealing with the company was a pleasure. I was going to be in Ft Myers (FL) where the company is located for a day so I called to see if I could get the inserts installed. The owner agreed to come in on Saturday and install them. I showed up at the specified time and he was waiting for me. He showed me the product and made sure that I knew exactly what was going to be done. I came back at the specified time and the bags were finished. I am very happy with the workmanship, product quality, and fit. I particularly like the fact that the top piece has lips running along the long edges to assure that the lid is supported properly and won’t sag with time. Although I had them install mine, it looks like self-installation of their kit is not difficult. As with all similar products, installation in bags that have shrunk/sagged significantly will require some elbow grease but otherwise the process should be straightforward. Below is a picture of one of the side pieces. Link: http://www.leatherlidinserts.com/
I really like Leather Lid Inserts. I've met the owner Ray a handful of times at events and he's a really nice guy. I like his form fitted lid & compared to other companies I think that's where his product soars above the competitors.
And for the shameless self promoter / competitor that was bad mouthing Leather Lid Inserts on here. I think by looking at the bag shot above you can clearly see that the inserts were not cut by hand.
I did the No More Saggy bags mod, it was easy to install and sure looks good. Had I known of Leather Lid I would have checked them out. Thanks for the info, I will pass it on.
